Note the job title ‘head coach’.

Be interesting to see if he has full control over transfers.

Hope they struggle right from the off. Love him to be bottom half all season.

Can’t see it though, I think he’ll do a great job.

Couldn't give a fuck about Chelsea but good luck to him. Yeah it's a bit jammy but good luck to the lad, I wish him no ill, say what you like about him but the name Lampard is an important one for our club.

Anyway, this would have pissed off John Terry no end and it's worth it for that alone.

Re: Lampard new Chelsea manager - 3 year deal
In fairness I can see why he was appointed, he did a great job at Derby.

He took over a club that finished 6th the season before having lost in the playoffs, called in some favours from the big clubs with a load of loanees and ended up finishing 6th, and losing in the playoffs.

Progress.

Decent and clever appointment by the club... the fans will be a lot more tolerant on Junior than some other big name coach... gonna be a few seasons of rebuilding there and I think the majority of their fans know that

Re: Lampard new Chelsea manager - 3 year deal
proper managers , pep/klopp/poch and even pellegrini surely musts be rubbiing their hands and thinking there's 12 easy points out of the games with ollie and fat boy.

cant wait for this to go horribly wrong... actually id like it to be slow and painful

In reality, no proper manager was going to want the gig knowing that he wouldn't be able to make any transfers all season, so they've gone for the easy option of a club legend.

Re: Lampard new Chelsea manager - 3 year deal
Very strange and I think desperate appointment from Chelsea.

They've worked their way through every manager going that would consider coming to them, so now they are left with a rather desperate act of going for a "club legend" with next to no track record in management, in the hope that he can replicate the OGS effect at Chelsea.

Which I think means, they'll win a few games to begin with but will then implode, the players will take over again and Frank will be back managing in the Fizzy Pop before Easter.

One of the biggest jobs in football. They clearly decided they needed to appoint a heavyweight.

Re: Lampard new Chelsea manager - 3 year deal
Weird.
One season as a manager where he lifted Derby from a lowly 6th in the Championship to the giddy heights of, er, 6th.
My sister in law is a Derby fan and says he had completely lost the plot by the end of the season and made some baffling team selections that ultimately lead to their pailure to get promoted.

i really hope saari wins the CL with Juve just to make chelsea look more ridiculous for sacking him

Re: Lampard new Chelsea manager - 3 year deal
8 months in management at ONE club! Got Derby to the play offs, not promoted and he gets a 3 year contract on 4 mill a year, he is one jammy cunt.

Football really is fucked up though, will end in tears and a big pay off, but on the other hand at least its nice to see a young English manager given a chance even if it is fat Frank.
